Less than a couple of weeks to go and we will see one of the biggest days of the year when it comes to opening up the wallet; a movement of generosity that sees the power of people donate to communities and organizations in need.
Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. In 2024, this day in Canada generated over $53.8 million in a single day for charities nationwide, with $16.2 million raised specifically through CanadaHelps. It has grown into a pretty big phenomenon!
The need that CAYR plays witness to is rising year after year. It pulls at the heart strings. As an organization serving some of the most vulnerable and marginalized in York Region, we do our best. But our best, could always use more. And there are multiple more ways in which to help:
Donate today – visit our Canada Helps Donate page to generously donate once, or set up monthly giving.
- $30 provides a service user with 10 transit tickets or a Presto card
- $50 provides a taxi ride for a client living in a rural area to access health & wellness programs
- $100 can help support with food insecurity
Our Holiday Care program – a winter needs campaign that helps with food hampers, blankets, toques, mitts, and other basic needs. https://www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/cayrcommunityconnections/campaign/holiday-cayr/
Kits for a Cause -visit https://kitsforacause.com/charities/cayr-community-connections/ to sign up and see our wish list of kits that you can build.
Keep the wheel of generosity spinning, keep the level of support climbing.
There are many folks out there that could use a hand, a little extra to help during these challenging times. That support can do so much for the soul, for both the receiver and the giver.
Together we can make a BIG difference!
