People impacted by HIV/AIDS, people who use drugs and substances, and members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community are faced with stigma, discrimination and social exclusion in York Region. In the absence of safe, confidential, and inclusive spaces and services in York Region, these marginalized community members are unable to access dignified support and meaningfully engage in self-determined pathways to well-being.

CAYR offers a range of community education and awareness raising opportunities to help build an inclusive, safe, and healthy community in York Region. Individuals, community members, and service providers can connect with CAYR to learn about:

  • Creating inclusive, confidential, and safe spaces and services
  • Sexual health & wellness promotion (risk factors, prevention, testing, and treatment options)
  • Information about safer drug use and sharps disposal
  • Overdose prevention training (including Naloxone)
  • Harm reduction
  • Service delivery for specific populations (including women, gay/bisexual/men-who-have-sex-with-men, people who use drugs and substances, and 2SLGBTQ+ communities)
  • Customized training/education opportunities
