Welcome to the ACYR Blog, a blog created by the AIDS Committee of York Region, shared by its community partners, staff and volunteers, with the purpose of creating awareness and helping to end the stigma surrounding HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) and AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome). But also to help build public knowledge around things such as sexual health, hepatitis C, mental health, depression, addiction, poverty, homelessness, LGBTQ, healthy living, nutrition; the list is plentiful.

This blog is meant to paint a picture and tell a continuing educational story. It is about communicating with one another, something we sometimes take for granted. We communicate every day to express thoughts, opinions, to ask questions, and to give information.
Communication is the foundation of much of our lives, a basic human right, and it is the best way to achieve those words I mentioned above. It is the best way to end stigma and overcome misunderstanding; to live full and healthy lives; to achieve happiness and unity.
