The AIDS Committee of York Region seeks your support to recruit participants for our collaborative research study to understand the service needs of seniors with complex life circumstances (e.g., dementia, mental health, substance use, HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses, homelessness, and poverty) in York Region. This study will help us develop better services for seniors with complex health needs in York Region.
At this time we are looking for both older adults as well as caregivers of older adults in York Region to participate in this study. We are particularly hoping to see participation from shelter programs in York Region as well as those that serve street-involved populations.
To be able to participate in the study, you need to be:
– an older adult (55 years of age or older) with at least one of the following: dementia, mental health, substance use, HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses, homelessness, and poverty
– live in York Region
OR
– a caregiver for an older adult in York Region
– the older adult (55 years of age or older) for whom you are caring for is affected by at least one of the following: dementia, mental health, substance use, HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses, homelessness, and poverty
This study involves the completion of an intake form to determine eligibility for this study followed by an interview with trained community researchers. The completion of the intake form and the interview will take a maximum of 2 hours and a half. You will receive a $25 gift card for completing both the intake form and the interview. Confidentiality will be respected at all times.
