GetInvolvedIt is National Volunteer week and I sometimes wonder how they do it? How do people (of all ages) find the extra time when it sometimes seems like we have so little in this busy, fast-paced and hectic world. Yet the smiling faces and helping hands are still there.

Here at The AIDS Committee of York Region some of those smiling faces have helped us out with our client retreats, at community fairs, wrapping gifts for our Holiday Wish List program or our fundraising event A Taste for Life, taking part in our Red for Change campaign to raise awareness and end stigma surrounding HIV and AIDS.

The ACYR staff, applaud all of those that help us out and become part of our team. But also we offer gratitude to everyone who donates their time and energy to a cause, to organizations and sometimes even strangers.

I guess it is what helps make the world go ’round.

If you’re now thinking about doing some volunteer work, but don’t know where to look, we are right here. Whether you’re looking to gain experience or learn new skills, help others in the community, meet new people, fulfill community service hours or simply have some fun, there is a volunteer position that’s right for you. High school students can also fulfill their required hours. As the community grows, so do the opportunities to volunteer, and there are a number of options available to you.'14_10 Volunteer Recruiting
