I have always enjoyed the spirit of giving and I have always tried my best to participate, whether it is through volunteering or donating. There are so many big and small organizations out there trying to make a difference. Some might say not enough, others might comment on the pressing need for further sponsorship or funding. And then there are even others who may say that too many avert their uncaring eyes to the need.

But, regardless of the obstacles, someone is always trying. People and organizations alike are pushing forward to help with the countless barrier that we face:

Disease (such as HIV), Homelessness, Poverty, Mental Health, etc…

unitedway_tyr_horiz_colourThe United Way is a growing organization that encompasses what is needed most, compassion. You can also add words like altruism, caring, enthusiasm. They work hard at keeping the circle of giving, going. They influence people and other agencies to raise money, to keep up the momentum, and keep the circle moving.

The CN Tower climb, car washes, bake sales, the list of events is huge; and it is all to give back. ACYR is one of the many involved (annually) in this large scale fundraising give-a-thon.

We are inviting you to come out to join us as we go to the movies and showcase the fantasy musical classic Labryinth with David Bowie. It is happening on Thursday October 27th 2016 between  6:30-8:30pm, doors opening  at 6pm. Rainbow Cinemas (now owned by Imagine Cinemas) at  10909 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill will be the host venue of this event.

A $10.00 donation at the door is kindly requested, along with the option of purchasing a yummy bake sale treat from a variety that will be display. Every one of those dollars raised in this event allows United Way Toronto & York Region, to sustain vital programs and services for the region’s most vulnerable populations; including many of ACYR’s services users.

Also, since we are close to Halloween,  come in costume if you dare!
